Merry Christmas! Again.

Holidays have come and gone… Lights are turned off in the the neighborhood, and it is dark and cold… I am NOT taking my little tree down just yet! Orthodox Church is celebrating Christmas on the 7th of January. So, tomorrow is a Christmas Eve! Merry Christmas! Lily.

Funny you should think so, anony… Slow down! There is a thing they have in Russia, known as “Old New Year” – until 1918 Russia functioned on calendar that was lugging some days behind the calendar we all use now, I believe it was Julian Calendar, though don’t quote me on that one. It explains their Christmas being when it is. But the good news – it is another very good excuse to get together and drink much vodka to keep warm. From what I understand Siberian winters are fairly cold…So, Happy Old New year to you first, then we go Chinese!!! Lily.

I think the whole winter should just be a long string of celebrations to keep the chill out... That said, our tree comes down not a minute after midnight at the end of Jan. 1st.
